LHSAA and Dairy MAX Announce Nutrition Partnership

Grand Prairie, TX – Dairy MAX and BUILT with Chocolate Milk, the regional dairy council, and Louisiana High School Athletic Association have jointly announced a partnership, naming chocolate milk the official refuel and recovery beverage of the association. With 8 grams of high quality protein and added sugar to support recovery, chocolate milk makes excellent fuel for athletes. Recently published research in the Journal of the International Society of Sports Nutrition showed that in high school athletes, chocolate milk has a greater impact on performance than regular sports beverages when high school athletes drink it for recovery. The LHSAA joins the state associations of Colorado and Texas to partner with BUILT with Chocolate Milk. Executive director, Eddie Bonine, stated “The Louisiana High School Athletic Association is excited to partner with Dairy MAX, the partnership will promote a healthy lifestyle and proper nutrition habits for student-athletes across the state of Louisiana.”

“Tomorrow’s workout is dependent on today’s recovery. To get faster, stronger and perform better, young athletes must replenish the energy and repair the muscles they tax during hard workouts. Research shows drinking chocolate milk within 30-45 mins of hard exercise is the best way to recover,” said Jennie McDowell, director of business development with Dairy MAX. “Chocolate milk is accessible, affordable and delicious. It is the best recovery option for young athletes. The protein-carb ratio in Chocolate Milk is optimal for replenishing glycogen and rebuilding muscle after hard workouts and games. Partnering with the Louisiana High School Athletic Association, is a great way to share with coaches and athletes the opportunity to improve performance by focusing on recovery after workouts.”
