BATON ROUGE, LA (July 2, 2012) — The Louisiana High School Athletic Association (LHSAA) announced today that it has renewed its partnership with ExxonMobil, who will again be recognized as the title sponsor for the LHSAA’s All-Academic Scholar Athlete Program. In addition, ISC has partnered with the LHSAA to become the presenting sponsor of the All-Academic Scholar Athlete Program.
The LHSAA ExxonMobil All-Academic Scholar Athlete Program recognizes student-athletes that are the composite recipients in all 27 sports. These are graduating seniors who have maintained perfect 4.0 or above grade point averages (GPAs) for their entire high school careers. Students who receive all-academic scholar honors receive framed certificates at their respective sports’ state championships. This year (2012) marks the third year that ExxonMobil Baton Rouge has been the title sponsor of this prestigious awards program.
“This partnership is great way for ExxonMobil to help support students who are committed to excellence, both in the classroom and on the field,” said ExxonMobil Baton Rouge Refinery Manager Steve Blume. “We are proud to join LHSAA and ISC in an effort to recognize young people who represent Louisiana’s future, our leaders of tomorrow.”
ISC, a leading supplier of instrumentation and electrical services to industry throughout the Gulf South, has been named the presenting sponsor of the LHSAA ExxonMobil All-Academic Scholar Program. This is the first year that a presenting sponsor has been named for the awards program.
“It was an easy decision to make when approached about joining ExxonMobil in partnering with LHSAA to recognize these outstanding student athletes,” said ISC President and CEO Jerry Rispone. “ISC has supported education and workforce development for many years and this is another wonderful way to recognize outstanding classroom achievement.”
According to LHSAA Executive Director Kenny Henderson, “Honoring the student-athletes for achievements in the classroom is vital to our mission of going ‘beyond the game.’ High school sports are an extension of our student-athletes’ total educational experience. Our partnership with ExxonMobil and ISC assures us the opportunity to recognize our student-athletes who have achieved the highest success in the classroom while participating in high school sports. These seniors truly epitomize the phrase student-athlete.”
