Do you skip breakfast? If so, you’re not alone. According to a 2011 poll, 31 million Americans skip breakfast every day. Everyone from high school student-athletes to their grandparents, however, needs to start eating early.
There are many reasons people skip breakfast: you want more sleep, you want to lose weight or you’re just not hungry. Nevertheless, many nutritionists and scientists believe breakfast is the most important meal of the day for growth, development and success. Breakfast gives you the energy you need kick-start your day.
Getting up a few minutes earlier to throw together a nutritious breakfast will prove much more beneficial to you than those extra seconds of sleep. Studies also indicate that skipping breakfast can actually make you gain weight – you wind up eating more later because you’re a lot hungrier having skipped breakfast.
As we’ve said many times, student-athletes have a lot on their plates. But adding breakfast on those already full plates will allow you to manage your hectic schedules so much easier!
