Posted: 07-15-2013 | Categories: Administrators, Parents & Students

The Louisiana High School Athletic Association is sad to hear about the recent medical troubles of longtime Ruston Daily Leader sports writer O.K. Buddy Davis. Davis has been covering sports in the Ruston area for almost 50 years while serving as sports editor since 1970.

On July 5, Davis suffered a stroke and looks to be facing a long road to recovery. He is currently hospitalized at the Northern Louisiana Medical Center. According to the Ruston Daily Leader, bank accounts in Davis’ name have been established at Community Trust Bank, the Bank of Ruston and First National Bank. To donate, tell a bank teller you’d like to donate to Davis’ account. Donations can also be mailed to the Ruston Daily Leader, O.K. Davis Fund, P.O. Box 502, Ruston, La., 71270 or by coming to the Leader office at 212 W. Park Street in Ruston between the hours of 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. weekdays.

Beyond high school sports, Davis has long covered Louisiana Tech and Grambling for the Leader. His name is synonymous with upstanding coverage of local Ruston sports.

Media coverage of the LHSAA State Championships won’t be the same until O.K. Buddy Davis is back in good health and on the sidelines. Get well soon Buddy!
