The LHSAA announces that, after conducting a nationwide search for a new executive director, it's Executive Committee has voted to offer the position to Mr. Eddie Bonine. Mr. Bonine currently serves as the executive director for the Nevada Interscholastic Activities Association (NIAA) and has held that position for the last seven years. Mr. Bonine has accepted the offer, and contract negotiations are expected to conclude shortly.
According to Vic Bonnaffee, LHSAA Executive Committee President, there were several well qualified applicants for the position and the choice was not easy. In his opinion, Mr. Bonine's experience as the executive director of a state high school athletic association separated him from the other applicants and played a critical part in the decision to offer him the position.
Mr. Bonnaffee stated:
"At this point in the history of this organization, we believe that Eddie Bonine is the right fit. His background and experience will enable him to evaluate the current operations of the association with a fresh set of eyes. We are excited that he has agreed to lead the LHSAA into some of the most important years of it's existence, and we urge everyone -- principals, coaches, parents, and others -- to work with him to make those years successful. We also want to thank NIAA Board President Erin Cranor for her assistance and professionalism in dealing with this transition."
Mr. Bonine will be present in New Orleans for the LHSAA Non-Select State Football Championships in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome on Friday, December 12 and Saturday, December 13. He is scheduled to be formally introduced at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 13, in the Media Room of the Superdome, and questions will be answered at that time.
While Mr. Bonine is completing his contractual obligations to the NIAA, Mr. Jimmy Anderson has graciously agreed to continue to serve as LHSAA Interim Executive Director.
